Brewing the chai…

Account: when you sign in with Google or Apple we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (if any). We never see your password. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive the private relay address.
Content you create: events, community posts, comments, kids blogs, chat messages, RSVPs, saves, and likes — along with when you created them and the city they belong to.
Preferences: your selected city (stored as a cookie and, when signed in, on your account).
Technical basics: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) kept briefly for security and debugging. We do not run third-party ad trackers or sell data — to anyone, ever.
To run the platform: showing events and posts for your city, delivering chat messages, remembering your RSVPs and saves.
Automated moderation: comments are checked at submission by an AI model to catch abusive language. The comment text is processed for that purpose only.
We send no marketing email. Any future digest will be strictly opt-in.
Two kinds only: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a `city` cookie that remembers which city you're browsing. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Content you post is public to other members by design (that's the point of a community board). Your email address is never shown publicly.
Service providers that host our infrastructure (Google Cloud, Neon, Cloudflare, Upstash, Anthropic for comment moderation) process data on our behalf under their own security terms. We share nothing with advertisers or data brokers.
You can delete your account in the iOS app (More → Settings → Delete account) or by emailing us. Deletion removes your account, profile, sessions, RSVPs, saves, and likes; your posts are removed from all feeds; comments that hold replies from other people remain as anonymous "[deleted]" stubs so conversations keep their shape.
Chat messages you already sent remain in the room with the display name they were sent under — like a message you sent in any group chat. Community events you added stay listed (without any link to you) because neighbors may have RSVP'd to them.
Accounts are for adults (18+). The Kids section is parenting content written by and for parents and teachers — kids themselves don't need accounts, and blogs credited to a kid are published by their parent.
Questions or deletion requests: hello@bigindian.app. We answer fast — it's a community project, not a call center.
